Free & Customisable Doctor’s letter

I’d already read some horrible stories online before approaching our family doctor about my ADHD symptoms.

I put it off for almost a year, fearing yet another professional would laugh at me or simply dismiss my research as a waste of time.

Sadly, that’s exactly what happened.

Our regular doctor was on leave, so the only appointment I could get was with a part-time veteran doctor, preparing to retire after more than 40 years in the job.

Explaining my deepest fears and recent hopes of finally finding an answer to why I was seemingly unable to change parts of myself that I desperately wanted to, I was met with a a dead stare…

“Are you asking me if you drink too much because of ADHD?
No. You just need to stop drinking. Simple as that.

It’s got nothing to do with something you saw on Facebook”

I was gutted and ashamed… But fortunately, I was prepared.

I slid the piece of paper across his desk, gritted my teeth and said;

“HERE IS THE NAME OF A LOCAL PSYCHIATRIST MY FRIEND SAW LAST YEAR.
PLEASE PROVIDE ME A REFERRAL TO SEE THEM BECAUSE I WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO SPECIALISES IN NEURODIVERSITY”

Fortunately, he signed the referral and I went on to learn I’d been living with severe, undiagnosed ADHD since childhood.

My piece of paper was just a scribbled post-it note, but based on the feedback I’ve received from thousands of you since then, I’ve drafted a simple letter for anyone who needs some help opening a conversation with their doctor.

Just copy, past and update the details according to your specific situation.

No email required… This is just a 100% free resource.
We’d love to know if it helps you though!
